Established in 2015 and affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai, Indian College of Education for Women, Arur, is a pioneering institution dedicated to empowering women through quality teacher education. Our Activities
The Women’s Cell at our college is dedicated to empowering women by addressing gender-related issues, promoting gender equality, and providing a platform for female students to express their concerns and ideas. Through various workshops, seminars, and awareness programs, the cell encourages self-confidence, leadership, and personal growth among women.
The YRC unit actively promotes humanitarian values, health awareness, and service to society. Students participate in blood donation drives, health camps, and disaster management activities, fostering a sense of social responsibility and compassion. The YRC also organizes workshops on first aid and emergency response.
Our NSS programme offers students the opportunity to engage in community service, contributing to the welfare of society. NSS activities include cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns on health and environment, rural development projects, and volunteering in local communities. The programme instills a sense of social commitment and teamwork among students.
The Red Ribbon Club focuses on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and promoting healthy living among students. Through awareness campaigns, health workshops, and seminars, the club educates students about prevention, care, and support related to HIV/AIDS. The club also engages in blood donation drives and health check-up camps.
Our college encourages creativity through the Fine Arts Club, which provides a platform for students to explore and showcase their talents in painting, music, dance, drama, and other artistic fields. Students participate in various inter-college competitions and cultural events, developing their artistic skills and cultural appreciation.
Physical well-being is a key focus at our college, and we offer a variety of sports and games to promote fitness and teamwork. Students participate in indoor and outdoor sports such as volleyball, basketball, badminton, and athletics. Regular training and inter-college competitions ensure active engagement in sports, fostering physical fitness and a competitive spirit.
We conduct life skill programs to equip students with essential skills needed for personal and professional success. These programs focus on communication skills, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, stress management, and leadership qualities, helping students become well-rounded individuals ready to face life’s challenges.
Our college supports students from economically weaker sections and underprivileged communities by offering various scholarships. Special scholarships are provided for SC/ST students, as well as meritorious students, to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder access to quality education.
In an era of digital learning, our college integrates ICT into the curriculum, providing students with the tools and knowledge to effectively use technology in education. With a well-equipped computer lab and access to online resources, students enhance their digital literacy, preparing them for modern teaching environments.
Our Arts and Crafts activities encourage creativity and self-expression. Students participate in workshops and competitions where they can learn traditional and modern art forms, including painting, pottery, and handicrafts. These activities foster artistic talent and help students develop fine motor skills and creativity.
SUPW is an integral part of the curriculum, aimed at developing practical skills and a sense of social responsibility. Students engage in activities such as gardening, candle making, embroidery, and handicrafts, promoting self-reliance and a productive approach to learning.
Our college organizes educational tours to various historical, cultural, and educational landmarks, providing students with experiential learning opportunities. These tours help students gain practical knowledge outside the classroom, broadening their perspectives and enriching their overall educational experience.
Teaching practice is a core component of the B.Ed. programme, where students gain hands-on experience by teaching in real classroom settings. This practical training allows them to apply theoretical knowledge, develop classroom management skills, and refine their teaching techniques. Through regular feedback and mentoring, students are prepared for their roles as professional educators.
