Code of Conduct for Faculty

Faculty members at Indian College of Education for Women play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students and the institution. To ensure the highest standards of professionalism and academic excellence, the following code of conduct has been established for all faculty members:

Faculty members are expected to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations outlined in their appointment order and those prescribed by the institution. Compliance with these guidelines ensures consistency in maintaining the college's ethos and operational integrity.

Faculty must handle the subjects assigned by the Principal diligently. It is the responsibility of each faculty member to complete the assigned syllabus within the prescribed time frame, ensuring that the course is thoroughly covered for student understanding and academic success.

Faculty members are accountable for the academic outcomes of the subjects they teach. This includes producing good results in examinations and taking responsibility for students' performance.

Assignments and projects must be provided to students in accordance with the instructions and schedule set by the institution. Faculty should ensure that all students are engaged in meaningful academic activities that enhance their understanding of the subject.

Faculty members should serve not only as teachers but also as counsellors and facilitators. It is their duty to guide, encourage, and assist students in their academic and personal development, ensuring that the teaching-learning process is effective, student-centered, and outcome-oriented.

Faculty must incorporate *value-based education* as a core element of their teaching approach. The institution places high importance on imparting ethical, moral, and social values to students alongside academic knowledge.

Faculty should be proactive in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment. They should foster a space that promotes respect, curiosity, and critical thinking, ensuring that every student feels supported and motivated.

Faculty must maintain professionalism and decorum both inside and outside the classroom. As role models, they are expected to set a good example for students by demonstrating appropriate behavior, commitment, and integrity at all times.

Faculty should avoid any inappropriate or unprofessional conduct, whether within the campus or in their interactions with students, parents, and colleagues. This includes refraining from gossip, negative behavior, or actions that could damage the reputation of the institution or undermine its values.

In addition to teaching duties, faculty members are required to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities. These responsibilities may include organizing seminars, workshops, cultural events, and other initiatives that contribute to the holistic development of students.

Faculty may also be called upon to take on organizational tasks or institutional development roles as assigned by the Principal. This involvement is essential for the smooth functioning of the college and the enrichment of the academic environment.

Faculty members are strictly prohibited from accepting or giving any gifts, monetary favors, or services from or to students and their parents. This policy is in place to prevent any conflicts of interest, favoritism, or undue influence in the student-teacher relationship.

Faculty must maintain professional boundaries with students and parents at all times, ensuring that their actions are in line with institutional policies and uphold the integrity of the teaching profession.

By adhering to this code of conduct, faculty members will contribute to maintaining the college’s reputation for excellence in education, fostering an environment where students are nurtured both academically and personally. This code reflects the commitment of the Indian College of Education for Women to upholding the highest standards of teaching, ethical responsibility, and institutional loyalty.
